The first was Elise too. Elise thinks it's very important that I blog about her. About her broken arm to be more specific. And what Elise says needs to be done must be done by her piemaker. Which happens to be me. So here is the whole story. Elise was jumping on our trampoline with Autumn and some of the other girls. Elise fell onto Autumn and in trying to brace herself broke her left distal radius and ulna. It was a buckle break. Elise broke it on Sunday and didn't complain about it on Monday so we thought she hadn't broken it. But she started complaining again on Tuesday, so we took her in. I got to go and it was pretty fun. I'm doing anatomy right now as part of my whole want to be a nurse and it was awesome listening to them talk about all the body parts. And it was fun getting to explain everything to my mom. :) Elise was in a sugar cast with a sling (my mom made 2 other cute slings because the one they gave us was ugly). Then she got to go get her hard cast. We got to take her all the way to downtown Portland. Elise was explaining her broken arm to the dude there. It was fun to see the guy's face when Elise said they were playing "jumping off the second story window". It's actually a game where they jump and then sit down. Listening to the girl next to us's story I thought our's wasn't that bad. She had broken her arm 5 times (she looked around 8) and after she broke it kept doing gymnastics with her cast. Yeah... I think she should quit gymnastics. So Elise chose a glow in the dark cast. Here are some things that we've learned about casts:
1. If it gets wet your skin will rot.
2. If something gets inside of it then it will, within a few days, kind of get stuck in your skin
3. It itches like crazy
4. It REALLY stinks (like the smell)
5. After they take it off they expect you to keep your 6 year old from doing anything that could possibly hurt it again for 6 weeks. Which I believe is impossible.
